This is what Indian Larry called “surfing”. Unfortunately it lead to his death in 2004. That Larry was famous for his work is well known. He was also a good man. Roger Baker, a truly multi-talented artist, undertook an Indian Larry Field Tribute. He created a huge portrait of the man in the grass of a field in Ellenville, NY. Larry’s friends and family attended the ceremony......two of his
choppers were ridden up from “the city”. Baker’s field work is best
viewed from the air so antique biplanes were used to fly friends and
 family over the field.
Meanwhile the event was being video-taped for a movie
that documents the event start to finish adding good background
footage explaining who Larry was - not only to the public - but to
those who knew him well. It is a soulful piece of work.
I have included but a small portion of the photographs I took
at the field event and there are more on a following page of the
premiere showing of the film at the Shadowland Theater also in
Ellenville a year later. Rip Tragle
