The Stanley Museum here in estes Park involves the public in the history of the stanley Family and provides a “hands On” learning Experience in the operation of the Stanley Steam Car.

My own interest in The Stanley Family is not restricted to the steam car as they were incredibly multi-talented people.

They made their fortune in Photography by developing

a mass production method for marketing “dry Plates” for

photographers world wide and, indeed, were the major

manufactures of their product.

Their success was such that they sold their business to

George Eastman  who made them offer they couldn’t Refuse.

It was then the Stanley twins,  Francis Edgar and Freelan Oscar

decided to build their famous “stanley Steamers”.
